A few things to know about joining the ESP supply team

FAQ's

  • As part of our recruitment process, we will carry out all the necessary safer recruitment checks, including DBS, children's barred list, identity, teacher prohibition (teachers only), qualifications, medical fitness, permission to work in the UK, overseas checks (including criminal certificates, references and information from regulatory bodies), references and employment history. Also prior to an interview, an online check of publicly available information will be completed to assess shortlisted candidates’ suitability to work with children.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

All teachers and teaching assistants are also asked to disclose any relevant criminal history.

We interview every teacher and teaching assistant face-to-face so that you find your perfect match because we know there’s lots to consider.

    For example:

    • Would you rather work in a larger school or a small village school?
    • Are you an ECT looking to gain a foothold and kick-start your career?
    • An experienced teacher who just wants to do a few days a week?
    • Or an experienced teacher who wants a change of direction?
    • What location do you prefer?

Whatever it is that’s important to you, your face-to-face interview is the chance to discuss it to ensure we only offer you the most suitable job opportunities.

  • If you are applying to join our supply team as an internationally trained teacher or as someone who has been living and working overseas, please take a look at this guidance - https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/explore-my-options/overseas-applicants

    • An Enhanced DBS certificate including a children’s barred list check (even if you have not been to the UK) – we can assist with completing this.

  •

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.

There are two options for completing this.

    1. Using the update service
If you have a suitable certificate registered with the DBS Update Service, we can perform an online check. Key points about the update service:

    · There is a £13 annual subscription fee

    · You must register a new DBS certificate within 30 days of it being issued

The certificate must be an enhanced check and for the position 'Child workforce' only, we cannot accept certificates that are for 'Adult workforce' or include the 'Adult's barred list check'. We also can't accept volunteer DBS certificates for paid work positions.

More information about the update service can be found here - https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service

    2. A new DBS check is required.
We will set up the online application for you and will require 3 evidence documents to verify the application. The cost of this is £64, £24 of which will be refunded to you in your first month’s pay. Further information will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
